I would like to take a minute to tell you my story. At age three (I was) legally adopted. Unknown to others, at the adopting hearing, (she) would not be able to care for me after the age of ten. Then began my foster care experience -which sucked. I went through thirteen homes all of which were depressing. At eightenn, I emancipated out of (foster care) and for the next two years lived in transitional housing. While attending San Francisco City College, a guidance counselor introduced me to First Place for Youth. Upon graduation, I was provided a subsidy for temporary housing. Six months prior to finishing the program, I received an application for Madison Street Apartments. I thought that I would never get in. On April 25th, I became the proud renter of a luxurious, well maintained, modern apartments. All because of organizations like Affordable Housing Associates and First Place, who collaborate to build housing for youth in crisis.
