On May 6, 2010 Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) introduced the Job Creation and Affordable Housing Act of 2010 on behalf of herself and Senators John F. Kerry (D-MA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Senator Cantwell has been a champion of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit program over the years but particularly in the 111th Congress as the industry-wide Coalition pushes to achieve needed legislative changes to spur additional investor interest in the Housing Credit.
The Act, which has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee, includes a industry endorsed 5 year carry back proposal and additional Housing Credit proposals. The full legislative text is linked below.
